A thermal paradise ... 365 days a year

Documents from 1855 about the Čatež thermal baths confirm that the hot springs in the willow groves beside the Sava River were known as early as 1802. The Čatež hot springs were reputed to be the warmest in the Habsburg Austrian Empire and were famous for their beneficial effects on body and soul. Folk tradition links the springs as bringers of health with the legendary dwarf Čatež who was half man and half goat. He led people who respected him to springs of fresh healing water and played tricks on those who angered him. Today you can see the Dwarf of Čatež sitting by the entrance to the winter Thermal Riviera telling stories to visitors.

The development of Čatež is linked to the use of its thermal water for health, relaxation, and recreation. Its eleven hot springs, which boast temperatures ranging from 42º C to 63º C at their source, have enabled the Čatež Thermal Spa in the last decade to develop into Slovenia’s largest natural health resort and second largest tourist center. The great diversity and number of its tourist offerings have made the Čatež Thermal Spa one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Europe. Its offer combines health programs and wellness services with a water recreation park, sport and recreation programs, golf, first-class accommodation and dining facilities, evening entertainment programs, a casino, congress facilities . . .

Since 2005, the new Hotel Čatež*** has offered guests two indoor and one outdoor swimming pool as well as the new Spa & Wellness Center with individually planned services and package programs. In the field of health care, along with new health facilities and water surfaces the largest addition has been the Biodex System 3 Pro apparatus for isokinetic diagnostics, the most modern device for measuring the muscle and muscle group power of all the joints of the body.

The renovations completed in mid 2006 at the Mokrice Castle complex include the conversion of the castle granary into a hotel annex, the arrangement of a new multi-purpose hall, the renovation of the castle kitchen, and the refurbishing of the castle roof and façade. These renovations have enhanced the diversity and comprehensiveness of the offer at the Mokrice complex, and the new annex of the Hotel Golf Grad Mokrice offers additional possibilities for accommodation in new rooms as well as a modern new conference hall.
